Pengantar
Seminar Nasional adalah salah satu rangkaian dari acara Pekan Senyum Sehat yang akan terus berkesinambungan hingga bulan Maret 2007 dengan 9 rangkaian acara lainnya. Seminar ini adalah salah satu cara Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Airlangga Surabaya untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan klinisi kesehatan baik dokter, dokter gigi, perawat, dan klinisi kesehatan lainnya pada khususnya serta masyarakat pada umumnya.

Tingkat kesadaran dan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang kesehatan gigi dan mulut sudah menunjukkan ke arah perkembangan yang positif. Hal ini berkat didukung oleh paktisi kesehatan, khususnya di bidang kedokteran terus memberikan pengetahuan tentang kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Walaupun kesadaran dan pengetahuan tersebut telah berkembang, namun perkembangan tersebut hanya berdasar atas menjaga kesehatan gigi dan mulut.

Aesthetic Dentistry by Hollistic Management adalah tema yang sengaja diangkat agar masyarakat pada umumnya dan praktisi kesehatan pada khususnya mendapat pemahaman baru tentang cara mengelola kesehatan gigi dan mulut yang dapat mempengaruhi fungsi keseimbangan tubuh (homeostatis) secara menyeluruh, disamping itu kesehatan gigi dan mulut juga mempengaruhi estetika yang akan berpengaruh pula pada kesehatan psikis yang akhirnya berlanjut pada keadaan normal (fisiologis) tubuh.
